Azerbaijan demonstrates the green agenda

Despite being rich in energy resources and being recognized as an exporter of energy resources in the world, the use of renewable energy sources has always been in the center of attention in the Republic of Azerbaijan. One of the main goals of the energy security policy implemented under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, is to strengthen the use of renewable energy sources in our country.
Azerbaijan, which has become a reliable partner and strategic ally of the European Union in the field of energy, is also recognized as an active participant in the “green transition”, which the world has declared a priority. Important “green” projects are currently being successfully implemented in our country, which has rich potential in this field, and it is predicted that high indicators will be achieved in the mentioned field in the future. Because the potential of our republic in this field is very high. On the other hand, the recognition of Azerbaijan as a place of favorable investment and political stability, and at the same time, its full commitment to the obligations it has taken on energy, means that our country will become one of the main suppliers in this field in the coming years.
The head of our state, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, during the 29th International Caspian Oil and Gas – “Caspian Oil & Gas” and the 12th Caspian International Energy and Green Energy – “Caspian Power” exhibitions held at the Baku Expo Center on June 21, “Euronews” in the interview, he touched on a number of important issues and gave important messages.
According to the head of state, “Masdar” is our strategic partner in the field of renewable energy: “In October of last year, we opened the first solar power plant with a capacity of 230 megawatts. Today, we held the groundbreaking ceremony of three solar and wind power plants with a total capacity of 1 gigawatt. This is only is the beginning, because we plan to implement all agreements and memorandums of understanding covering 10 gigawatts in the medium term and up to 5 gigawatts by 2030. This is our goal, there is potential”.
“You can see the Sun, our desire and including the wind. There is a good investment climate. It really shows that the country is now shifting its revenues from conventional energy to renewable energy. As a host country for COP29, we are at the forefront of the transition to green energy. it is our responsibility,” the President emphasized.
The interview of the President of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev to “Euronews” on June 21 is actually aimed at clarifying that energy is perfect: “Azerbaijan is attractive for those who invest not only in traditional energy sources, but also in renewable energy.” “Baku Energy Week” has been held in our country for 30 years, starting from 1994. More than 300 representatives from 37 countries of the world participated in this year’s event. Let’s pay attention to the important opinion voiced by the head of our state in that interview: “The country is currently diverting its income from traditional energy to renewable energy. As a country that will host COP29, it is our responsibility to be among the leaders in the transition to green energy.” The logic is this: Azerbaijan is one of the leading countries that thinks about climate changes and energy problems – in other words, the future of humanity.
It should be noted that “green energy” projects in our country, which are calculated for 20-25 years, have been assessed by local and foreign experts as an indicator of confidence in the future of Azerbaijan and state policy.
