Ancestors of November 8-Victory Day

Farajov Fayaz Kasym ogly was born in 1921 in the village of Gasimly, Lenkoran district (now Masalli district) of the Azerbaijan SSR. He studied the Koran and Islam. For his justice, he became a respectable man of his native village. In 1941, he was drafted by the Masalli RVC into the ranks of the Soviet army. Since that time, he served in one of the military units of the city of Prokhladny, Rostov region. In 1941 he fought in the battles for the defense of Crimea. In 1942, Fayaz Faradzhov, who was at that time in the battles for the city of Izyum (near Kharkov), was surrounded, wounded in the head and captured by the Nazi invaders. During his time in captivity, he was in prisoner of war camps in the cities of Stalino and Shtrans. After being in them for 4-5 months, he was sent to Italy. On November 19, 1944, he was delivered in Soviet train No. 2909 from the British command. On November 21, 1944, in accordance with Decree No. 12, he was sent to work in the fields of the Far East. Until April 1947 he worked in the fields.
Upon returning to his native village, he gives lessons in the Koran, spreads his knowledge about Islam. He speaks three languages: Turkic, Russian and Arabic. In pursuance of the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of January 27, 1958 “On awarding orders and medals of the USSR to former prisoners of war who have wounded or escaped from captivity” for the courage shown in battles with the Nazi invaders or when escaping from captivity during the Great Patriotic War, Fayaz Faradzhov was awarded the medal “For Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War” and the medal “For Valiant labor in the Great Patriotic War.” On May 7, 1975, he was awarded the Jubilee Medal “Thirty Years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.” On March 23, 1978, he was awarded the medal “60 Years of the Armed Forces of the USSR.” On November 30, 1980 he was awarded the Veteran of Labor medal. On April 6, 1985, Fayaz Farajov was awarded the “Order of the Patriotic War, II degree.” On March 16, 1997, the privatization check was presented to the Masalli district department of the State Property Committee. After a long serious illness, he died on May 19, 1998 in his native village. He was buried there.
