Azerbaijan’s winter tourism opportunities were promoted in Kazakhstan and Russia

Under the State Tourism Agency, the Azerbaijan Tourism Bureau (ATB) held a series of promotional events in Kazakhstan’s Almaty and Astana, Russia’s Yekaterinburg, Moscow and St. Petersburg. “Report” informs about this with reference to the Agency. According to information, the purpose of organizing the events is to inform the representatives of tourism companies operating in Kazakhstan and Russia about the tourism products offered in Azerbaijan in the winter season, as well as to organize meetings in the B2B (Business to Business) format between the representatives of the tourism industry of Azerbaijan and the representatives of the tourism companies of Kazakhstan and Russia. “Azerbaijan Airlines” JSC, “Shahdag Tourism Center” JSC, local tourism companies specializing in inbound tourism, hotels and medical resorts operating in Baku and the regions were represented in a series of events together with ATB. During the meetings with representatives of Kazakhstan’s tourism industry, it was reported that a change in the category of Kazakh tourists visiting Azerbaijan was registered. So, if earlier there was more interest in the healing resorts of Azerbaijan, recently Azerbaijan, especially the city of Baku, has become one of the popular destinations among young people in Kazakhstan. It was noted that the presence of direct flights from Kazakhstan’s cities of Almaty, Astana, Aktau, Aktobe to Baku contributes to mutual tourist visits. Also, in meetings with Russian tourism companies, it was brought to attention that the interest of Russian tourists in the mountain-ski resorts operating in Azerbaijan has increased. In January-August 2023, 35,471 people from Kazakhstan and 426,177 people from Russia visited Azerbaijan, which is 85% and 62% more than the same period last year, respectively.
