An example of true friendship and brotherhood

The Shusha Declaration is a document confirming the unbreakable unity, eternal brotherhood and permanent alliance of Azerbaijan and Turkey

“Currently, Azerbaijan-Turkey relations are exemplary. Officials of both countries have expressed this many times in their speeches and meetings. In this regard, it is appropriate to recall the views expressed by President Ilham Aliyev with great joy: “…currently Azerbaijan-Turkey brotherhood, unity and strategic alliance is exemplary and at its highest. Our interstate relations, built on solid foundations such as mutual trust, support, and at the same time, make an important contribution to regional cooperation, stability and security. The relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey based on the principle of “one nation, two states” will continue to develop and strengthen from now on, based on the fraternal trust of President Ilham Aliyev and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan mutual respect and trust for each other plays a very important role in strengthening the relations of the two states.

Currently, Azerbaijan’s global initiatives are accepted without words in the international world. We saw this during the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. At that time, on the initiative of President Ilham Aliyev, online summit meetings of influential international organizations were held. COP29, which will be held in our country this year, is considered one of these international events. The most important issue will be the participation of world leaders in this event. Presidents of various countries are invited to COP29 by the state of Azerbaijan. By the way, President Ilham Aliyev had a one-on-one meeting with the President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara on June 10. At that meeting, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that he will participate in the informal Summit of the Organization of Turkic States to be held in Shusha next month, and congratulated him on the occasion of COP29 being held in Azerbaijan.

Our head of state once again invited the President of Turkey to COP29. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan gladly accepted the invitation. As you can see, the close cooperation and partnership between Azerbaijan and Turkey is getting stronger with each of these visits. In particular, the visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Karabakh on June 15, 2021 went down in the history of Azerbaijan-Turkey. The “Shusha Declaration on alliance relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Turkey” signed on that day was written as a new page in the history of the brotherhood of the two states. The Shusha Declaration defines the future of relations between the two countries and raises the relations between the two countries to the highest level.

Execution of the Declaration is a guarantee of higher quality cooperation. The words of the great leaders of our nations, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and Heydar Aliyev, were reflected in the declaration. At the beginning of the 20th century, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk said that “Azerbaijan’s joy is our joy, and its sorrow is our sorrow.” At the end of the 20th century, Great Leader Heydar Aliyev said that “Turkey and Azerbaijan are one nation, two states”.
June 15 is a doubly significant date for the state and people of Azerbaijan. Our people celebrate this day as the National Liberation Day, as well as remember the history as the day of signing the Shusha Declaration. This declaration is considered an example of true friendship and brotherhood. The international world watched Azerbaijan-Turkey brotherhood from Shusha peak. The Shusha Declaration is a document confirming the unbreakable unity, eternal brotherhood and permanent alliance of Azerbaijan and Turkey.

Reflecting the issues of defense cooperation and mutual military assistance in the Declaration is a historic achievement. The countries will continue to ensure each other’s security. The development of relations in the field of defense industry will increase the military power of countries. Unmanned aerial vehicles played a major role in the Second Karabakh War. Azerbaijan will develop as a production center in this process. The two fraternal countries also agreed to make joint efforts to reform and modernize the armed forces of the two states in accordance with modern requirements, to implement measures aimed at strengthening defense capabilities and military security, to increase the ability of the armed forces of the two countries to work together, to manage weapons and ammunition based on modern technologies. has also agreed on the promotion of close cooperation and related activities of authorized structures and institutions for this purpose. The Shusha Declaration defines the conceptual directions of the development of relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey. This document laid the foundation for a new stage that paved the way for the joint success of the two brotherly states. The signing of the declaration played an important role in further increasing the international role and weight of Azerbaijan and Turkey. Common interests are protected here. Azerbaijan and Turkey mutually coordinate their activities on regional and international strategic issues of mutual interest.
