On October 14, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received the President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Ersin Tatar.
At the meeting, satisfaction was expressed with the expansion of relations between the peoples of the Turkic world, based on their historical connection with each other, and the existence of opportunities for the expansion of cooperation between our nations in the fields of humanitarianism, culture, education, and sports.
In this regard, the President of Azerbaijan, noting the role of the Organization of Turkic States as an efficient platform, expressed hope that the peoples of the Turkic world will continue to develop relations in various fields. The head of our state noted that Azerbaijan has always contributed to the close unification of the Turkic world and will continue to be loyal to the unity of the Turkic world.
The activity of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus as an observer member within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States was discussed at the meeting. It was noted that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus has been an observer at the Economic Cooperation Organization and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation for a long time. Therefore, it is quite logical for the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus to have an observer status with the Organization of Turkish States.
Ersin Tatar, in turn, congratulated President Ilham Aliyev on the occasion of fully securing the sovereignty of Azerbaijan. He also expressed his satisfaction with the events held within the Cultural Days of Northern Cyprus organized in Baku and expressed his gratitude to the President of Azerbaijan for the created conditions.
Cooperation issues in the fields of tourism, science, education and student exchange were discussed at the meeting.
At the end, the President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus presented a souvenir to the head of our state.
