Azerbaijan Ornithological Society will implement the grant project “Study of endangered nesting birds in Specially Protected Areas, raising the skill level of the Ornithological Society and involving the public” with the financial support of the State Support Agency for Non-Governmental Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan between June 1 and September 30. The main goal of the project is to increase the skills and abilities of the staff at the HCCA, to obtain real information about endangered birds. Measures to involve the population living in the environment in the work of nature protection have also been planned.
This project allows to implement a part of the program of the census of endangered bird species in the Specially Protected Areas, to study their exact number, breeding-decrease trends and other characteristics. This project will play a major role in the protection of the imperial eagle, black vulture, marbled vulture and white-throated vulture, which are included in the Red Book of Azerbaijan and on the Red List of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (Worldwide Red List). It will also help in the protection of turaj, white-headed skunk, white-headed skunk and others included in the Red Book of Azerbaijan.
