At the Ministerial Meeting on Climate and Innovation Dialogue of the UN Special Program for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA) within COP29, a statement on the establishment of the SPECA Climate and Innovation Dialogue was signed, and the opening of the SPECA Multilateral Trust Fund was announced.
Organized in our country A Ministerial Meeting on SPECA Climate and Innovation Dialogue was held within COP29.
At the event, Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov emphasized the importance of SPECA for our region. It was noted that SPECA has created an important platform for regional cooperation that promotes economic development, environmental sustainability and innovation in participating countries. Our countries are strengthening their economies with the support of SPECA, as well as building a future ready for the challenges of climate change. SPECA Climate and Innovation Dialogue serves as an important and unified platform for many countries. Through dialogue, our countries will contribute to the goals set by the Paris Agreement and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Dialogue is also useful in formulating joint strategies for the environmental, social and economic impacts of climate change. It was pointed out that the SPECA Climate and Innovation Dialogue will stimulate the transition to low-carbon, sustainable economies. By engaging interested parties from various sectors through dialogue, specific solutions for knowledge exchange and green development will be developed. The dialogue will play an important role in increasing the capacity to implement innovative, sustainable practices in the region. In addition to the above, initiatives such as increasing the share of renewable energy in the energy complex, energy efficiency and transition to a circular economy will be supported.
The SPECA Multilateral Trust Fund is flexible to solve common problems such as climate change, economic integration and sustainable development. It has been brought to attention that the mechanism will be. emphasized the importance of dialogue and joint initiatives in the world to cope with the challenges arising. It was pointed out that the dialogue can lead to achieving synergy in areas such as strengthening innovation ecosystems and technologies for sustainable development. The importance of efficient use of innovations for result-oriented climate action, stability and prosperity was noted.
Also, Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Minister of National Economy Nurlan Baybazarov, Deputy Minister of Economy and Trade of the Kyrgyz Republic Sanjarbek Bolotov, Minister of Investment, Industry of Uzbekistan and Deputy Minister of Trade Shokhrukh Gulamov noted the importance of regional and international cooperation on climate issues in their speeches,They expressed their views on the expected benefits of the Climate and Innovation Dialogue and the Multilateral Trust Fund.
In addition, there were presentations on the SPECA Climate and Innovation Dialogue and the SPECA Multilateral Trust Fund. The establishment of the dialogue and the opening of the Fund were announced.
At the end of the event, the Baku Joint Ministerial Statement on the establishment of the SPECA Climate and Innovation Dialogue was signed.
